This morning we gathered on the LDS Mount Vernon chapel grounds for a special memorial in honor of Rachel LaVaun Harrison.
It is a beautiful property!
Sara had prepared this lovely and thoughtful program
for the parents and grandparents.
It was nice to remember Rachel and to think about
the Plan of Happiness.
The "Butterfly Release" was so special!
We released 24 butterflies and watched them linger briefly and then fly on and up--much like little Rachel.
Even little Aubrey got to help!
And she even wore her butterfly shoes!
Afterwards we had lunch on this patio.
John barbecued some delicious chicken...
...and Sara made these extra yummy cupcakes!
We loved our special morning on the Potomac!!

That does look so nice. I am curious where did the butterflies come from?
Sara ordered them from an online company and they delivered them the night before. You keep them covered with ice until about an hour before the release. They hibernate in the cold and wake up when it warms up.
This is extra special, Thanks for sharing.
I really liked this post.
This is so beautiful! I am touched by the sweetness of this wonderful tribute to Rachel. Great job Sarah!
