When I got home from Church on Sunday, I found this balloon on the porch! It was the perfect thing to receive because...
...later that day, I was speaking at this:
Sometimes in the Church we are asked to do hard things that we would never volunteer for! This was one of them.
It was interesting to receive via email one person's notes from my talk and I have included them below with some minor edits. It was a good evening but I'm glad I don't have to worry about it anymore!
Sister Janis Harrison
• Talked about a family game they played called Fortunately and Unfortuantely. Each member of the family would give a fortunate example and the next would give an unfortunate example. (Her talk was effectively given using this format.)
• Encouraged us to read, know and use the pamphlet "For The Strength of Youth" especially in our Family Home Evenings. Parents should live by these standards as well. How about if the Youth make up a test about the book for their parents to take!
Another interesting exercise would be to go through For The Strength of Youth and circle all mentions of the Spirit. Living these standards will enable us to have the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost.
• Encouraged us to teach our children how to live by the Spirit.
Every family prayer, every home evening, every gospel discussion whether at home or in Seminary or at church where the spirit is present might add just a little more strength to the spiritual backbone of our youth.
• Lastly she spoke on our children receiving regular Priesthood Blessings. She encouraged us to record these blessings.
