Celebrating In A Big Way!

These really are BIG trees as you can see from this display:

I like how these two photo shows how massive the redwood trees are compared to the other trees.  And those are big tall trees.

And I love the color of "red"woods!

Saw this in the picture while looking at it later: Looks like two eyes and big bulbous nose, right?

We learned a new thing about redwood trees.  See those holes going straight up in a row?  They are made by woodpeckers who have found the softest part of the bark!

I'm down at one end ...

...and Dan is at the other end--we're taking pictures of each other!

We were anxious to see the Cabin Tree which fell over in a storm in 2017.

 It was fun to celebrate my birthday in a "big" way!

Birthday Trip!

No more birthdays for me!

(The kind where you sit at home wondering if anyone will remember you birthday)

Instead it's Birthday Trip!

Last year we went to Lake Tahoe and this year we went to Calaveras Big Trees!

(I actually look forward to my birthday now)

It was so nice of Dan to take me to one of my favorite places and he posed whenever I asked him to!

He took me to two nice restaurants for our dinners and we got patio seating at both places!

He even got inside a dead tree to pose to recreate...

I enjoyed walking through the redwoods...

 ...and sometimes just sitting to take it all in!

I also got a T-shirt with bears on it and at long last, a Christmas ornament:

It was a very fun birthday!

Where will we go next year?

Recent Excitement!

We got a new garbage can!

(Sometimes that's as exciting as it gets around here)

We got to spend some time with Jacob and Lily!

We received a cookie in the shape of Lake Tahoe as a thank you from Hannah!

Julia finally got her visa and traveled to the Philippines!
