This and That in June 2024, Part 2!

On Father’s Day John’s family hosted a dinner for family in the area.

Meanwhile, Grandpa enjoyed his root beer float after Church 

and all of the cards, gifts, texts and phone calls!

Father's Day at the Perrys:

Perrys after the baptistry on Tuesday.

 In keeping with our Oreos theme we played LRC with Oreos as the chips. 

And we had fun with this new game. 

Kathryn is already shopping for mission clothes. 

This looks like the perfect outfit!

On Wednesday June 19th she received her Endowment

 in the Feather River Temple. 

Grandpa was able to be there...

...and Aunt MaryAnn joined them as well!

Grandpa celebrated his 76th birthday!

He said he wanted some Kindle books,

 and here are some that he will be reading on his phone.

We appreciated the Perrys hosting a special dinner in his honor with decorations,

delicious barbecued hamburgers,

and a fun game called:

What Are There More Of in the World?

Here are a couple of examples of the questions:

1. Are there more chapters in War and Peace OR

more miles in the longest train tunnel?

Answer: 361 chapters vs 35 miles of a tunnel!

2. Are there more whales or more elephants in the world?

Answer: 1,812,000 whales vs 497,000 elephants!

3. Are there more liters of water used annually or more leaves on trees?

Answer: 128 quadrillion leaves vs 64 trillion liters of water!

I got started on this 1,000 piece puzzle before my surgery and got most of the edge and a few other parts done.  But I found I couldn't concentrate

 or sit long enough to work on it after the surgery.

Grandpa finished it for me!

It was a special month for Nathaniel: Giving a talk in Primary,

Drawing a picture of himself with a very accurate smile,

and celebrating his 11th birthday!

Michael made this "laser maze" for him to navigate when he first woke up.

More from Alaska!

The girls especially enjoyed learning about sled dogs

 and holding these baby puppies...

...and regular puppies!

From the bus they saw this moose.

And from the airplane ride they took they got to see Denali without clouds!

John and Aubrey went on a hike.  

They saw a beaver dam and a moose and her calf!

Feeding bears at the Anchorage Zoo at the end of the trip.

Back at home they were pleased to pick all these strawberries from their garden!

After Kathryn received her mission call, 

Darryl went online to FaceBook to see if there was a group for the mission.

  First picture he saw showed someone he knew.  

Josh served in that same mission in the mid 1990's!

Employee Appreciation party on the farm.  

Kathryn and Amanda did face painting.  

The younger boys had fun running around and eating.  

Michael's final tally: 4 cotton candy's, 5 ice cream bars, 

2 bags of popcorn, 2 bags of chips, lunch and 2 cans of soda!

The latest things Camille has made with her crocheting talent!

Camille also volunteers at the library with some friends.

I think this was "quiet giggling!"

Swim meet at Rock River Rapids for both girls.

Nathaniel is loved by this sister that Amanda visits for ministering.

She has vertigo and is pretty much homebound.

I know I always love a visit from Nathaniel!

Nathaniel played Jack and the Beanstalk for us on the piano!

We had a fun visit from the Melanchuks on Saturday, June 8th, 

first day of summer vacation for the kids.  

Forgot to take a picture while they were here

 so I asked them to take a selfie on the way home.

Excellent shot!

We did get one picture actually.  

Everyone wanted to try the ice machine.

This time it's Amelia's turn.

Jacob gave his first talk in Sacrament meeting on the 9th.

We watched on Zoom.

We could hear him really well

 and we were glad to got to see some of him too!

Heidi, Sarah and Camille will be arriving home tonight

 from a stake Youth Conference in Nauvoo!

They were very busy but Heidi got a shot of each of them.

Heidi went to help with the food for the 

approximately 150 youth and 30-40 adults.

The house where Heidi stayed.  It was built in the 1800's.

Trail of Hope, Nauvoo temple and visiting restored Nauvoo

 and Carthage Jail were just some of the activities.  

Here they are after dinner and after a very hot day.  

Why don't I look that good at the end of the day?

Daniel and Michael went to a YM Encampment

 so Kathryn, Amelia and 

Nathaniel got to go out on the boat.

Hannah, Joshua and David came over after the baptistry

 this past Wednesday. We got to talking about our family reunions

 and Hannah could remember some Minute To Win It activities

 at one of our reunions.  Turns out it was in 2010

 when we stayed at a hotel in Sandy, Utah.

In particular they remembered this activity with Oreos

 and it wasn't long before the boys had to try it too!

Today we had Golden Oreos!

And finally to finish out the first half of June,

 I need to give a shout out to my sister, Kathy, 

who has been my Marco Polo buddy

 through the ups and downs of our lives.

Here I am telling her the great news

 that I got from my Physical Therapist on Friday.

She said I am making very good progress!!
