This and That in April, Part 2!

After last month's post, I received this photo back from Ben with these labels.  Turns out these former companions have a fun connection with each other!
Caleb had a fun Easter!
I texted my sister, Kathy, after I got the distressing news that my surgery might have to be postponed into July or August.  She wrote me back some uplifting things reminding me to look on the bright side and even saying: "I'm sure this news made you crumble but something sweet will come your way."
I thought that was so nice of her.  About an hour later our doorbell rang and when Grandpa got there he found this on the porch:
At first we did not  make the connection and wondered who they could be from as there was no card. Then the light bulb went off from the earlier text from Kathy.
What a fun and yummy surprise!
Speaking of Kathy, she and her husband, Reid, were in Utah recently for Claire's graduation.
They had the opportunity to go two days early and be part of the 600 "background actors" for the new season of The Chosen they are filming in Goshen, Utah.  Amazing experience for them!  She said they met people from Christian faiths from all over including Alaska and Florida and places in between who had traveled there to be part of the movie.
This is how Amelia gets her hair cut!
Elizabeth has a leadership position and she works hard at it.
Most of Joshua's best friends are Seniors so they invited him to have dinner and hang out with them before and after Senior Ball.
Penny singing in a competition in Topeka
Sarah at a swim meet where she did great in the 200 IM
Prom for Sarah
Camille did Sarah's hair, made cookies for the YW lesson she will teach,
and then made breadsticks.  And she keeps crocheting amazing things.
Hannah and Kathryn got home from BYU.
Here is Kathryn teaching Nathaniel to line dance.
There were talks in Sacrament meeting by Sam and Daniel, turkey hunting by Michael, and
visits from Perry kids after the temple baptistry where we continue to play games like this:
and find new and yummy Oreo-themed treats!
And we are finally able to get strawberries from the farms around here.
We eat some every day!

This and That in April 2024, Part 1!

April 1st--April Fool's Day!
Someone in our family made these delicious looking graham cracker treats.
Two have white frosting and one has mayo.
The victim of the prank grabbed and bit into the mayo one.  Yuck!!
(Perpetrator will not be revealed but first name begins and ends with "D.")
Meanwhile the Melanchuk family had the day off and went on a hike
to see wildflowers and a waterfall!
Also that same day we were getting our 20 new windows installed!
On April 2nd Hannah and Kathryn sang with their University Chorale
 at the BYU Devotional!
They are both on the outside right.
Later that evening Hannah and Kathryn sang in their
University Chorale concert: O Be Joyful.
We watched it on a live stream.  It was joyful for sure!
They were both on the front row with one person in between them.
Penny sang a solo at a performance competition and she was rated a "1"
which is the highest you can receive.  Congratulations!
Meanwhile her parents were picking up Sam from his mission.
They were able to spend a couple of day visiting places in the mission (Smithfield Temple),
former companions, friends and even got in a hike.
And the Saturday morning General Conference session!
Daniel got 2 medals at a big track meet.
3rd in the 200 and 2nd in the 4 X 400 relay.  He also got 7th in the 100.
The three brothers got together in Clinton.
I asked Josh to send me a picture of the "three amigos."
Here is the first one that I got:
Here is the 2nd one that I got:
Here is the 3rd on that I got:
And finally the one I was expecting but LOVED them all!
Sam finished his mission strong!
He even got to meet Elder Gong...
...and sing in the choir at the meeting he was at.  Sam is just left of center.
Happy and sad:
"Me with the family I had my last lesson with.
From left to right, Aiden, Stephanie, me, and David."
Elizabeth got transferred to Hiram, Georgia.
She is always teaching lots of friends.
Nathaniel performed in his class play about the Planets and Stars.
Here he is speaking and signing his part:
The big finish song with the whole group:
We've had fun the past two Thursdays playing Catch Phrase with the
Perrys that have come by after the temple!
