Kansas, Part 2!

Jeff made us dinner one night.  It included an FHE treat of all the different kinds of Ocean Spray Cran flavors.  They had a taste test in their family and we got to taste them too!

He also made this trifle for dessert.  Wow!  It was yummy!!

There was a BYU football game to watch...

...with some fans watching from the window!

Sarah played the flute for us and Camille did some cheerleading moves!

Jeff's family brought over a couple of games to play...

...and we did some pipe cleaner games too!

On Labor Day we all met at Andover Park and had a game of Disc Golf on a new course.

He ended up in the water searching for it!

Camille had fun finding polywogs.

We rented this home while we were there.  It belongs to someone in their ward and is an extra home that they let their kids use or rent to people they know.  It worked out great...

...especially with this large backyard!

We were able to invite everyone over for pizza and games including Koob.

Afterwards we all went for ice cream or frozen yogurt at Braum's.

On our way to the airport Heidi treated us to lunch at a place she had heard about.  We had a good meal.   It also happened to be very close to the Nifty Nut House!

Great times and great food in Kansas!

Kansas, Part 1!

The day we flew to Kansas we were on what is called an Honor Flight.  About half the plane was filled with veterans and their companions who were returning from Washington D.C. after visitng Memorials and Arlington National Cemetery.    It was really fun having them onboard.  As we landed, the fire department sprayed the plane which was kind of fun but was hard on someone living in a drought.

There was a big reception for them at the airport.

It was a great start to our trip! 

Friday evening was a football game in Andover with the band featured at the beginning.

Here they are marching onto the field.  

Take note of the #5 below.  The girl standing on it is Sarah!  And the girl in the white T-shirt to her right is Elizabeth!

It was lots of fun to see although I admit I did more people watching than football watching!

On Saturday we went with Jeff's family to this museum:

I wondered what we would see?  I was really amazed at the collections they have here.  It was really interesting!

The Egyptian section had quite a few things including two unwrapped mummies which we were not allowed to photograph.  This is a coffin lid.

There was pottery from Ancient Greece

 An Asian section with marble Buddhas 

I thought this Hand Cannon was interesting especially the commentary

This is a little macabre but this is an actual shrunken head from South America.  Got the picture off the website.  It is quite small and they presume it is a Spaniard because there is a beard.  

This is Logan, the Tryosaur.  He was in the section: Sea Creatures of the Plains.  What?  Yes, there used to be a Western Inland Sea covering Kansas.  

And they had a T-Rex named Ivan along with some friends.

A knight in shining armor.  There were three stories of wonderful things to see and learn about!

Then there was a whole section about WWI which I found fascinating.

Suzie pointed out the fun facts in the Hall of Presidents.  We thought this one was pretty interesting!

It was a really a great morning, and I love learning new things.

Afterwards we had lunch at N & J’s, a Mediterranean restaurant. 

It was very tasty.
