This and That in September, Part 1!

 

September is a great time to celebrate!

  

Celebrating Kathryn's 21st birthday with dinner at Texas Roadhouse with her family who drove down to Provo.

Along with many other talents she is learning to play the ukulele!

Camille is ready to celebrate Fall but the Kansas weather is not cooperating, so she decided to drink some hot chocolate to help it along!

Camille started listening to Christmas music on Labor Day and made these rolls in the shape of a Christmas tree!  She's ready to celebrate Christmas too!

MaryAnn offered to come over and help when Grandpa had to work

 a 6 hour shift in the temple.

I told her I would make a small list of things for her to do!

I guess I am celebrating my knee replacement surgery!

Everyone has been bringing me flowers.

I will be celebrating when I get off all of these pills!

I got myself this book to help me celebrate.

Fun fact about me: I love hidden picture puzzles!

I have to stay down most of the time, so resting with my legs up on the sofa is perfect.  I have spent a lot of time crocheting 8 inch squares using different stitches.

I decided to sew them all together and make a nice, warm afghan I will donate.

Elizabeth celebrated her birthday on Saturday, September 12th!

She is also celebrating her 6th semester at BYU, starting a new job at the MTC, and the Cougars big win over Arizona!

Caleb is celebrating the start of preschool!

He got a new backpack in his favorite color.  It looks pretty heavy.

Every day he has to bring: diapers, wipes, change of clothes, 

and a lunchbox with snacks

He's so cute!

The Perrys celebrated the end of summer by going white water rafting 

on the American River.

A professional photographer took these and they can buy some without the watermark later.

MaryAnn and Brian celebrated a night at the temple by stopping by Casa Harrison afterwards and then having dinner at a favorite restaurant, Casa Ramos!

MaryAnn has been hosting some game nights with different groups

 of friends from her ward.

She asked each person to bring a game.

 and at the last one they were able to play all of them.

She had a hard time getting them to leave.

  I guess Moms like to celebrate taking a short break form being a Mom!

comfort food and BYU football!

I asked my knee how it feels after surgery.

It said, "I'm ready to take a stand!"

Then my knee asked me how I felt after surgery.  I said,

"I'm knee-deep in recovery, and I'm ready for a joint celebration!"

(I'm recovering from surgery and can't sit with my leg down in a chair

 for more than 20 minutes so commentary will be brief!)

First Day back to school!

First day of the trip taking Sarah back to BYU.

First day of more cuteness!

First time Bethany sang with the Madrigals.

They sang the Star Spangled Banner a capella at a school assembly!

First day of work for Elizabeth at a new MTC job!

First day of being 76!  

One of my ministering sisters is Filipino and she made us this delicious food!

I received lots of food, cards, gifts and flowers for my birthday and recovery.

I felt very spoiled!

First day after surgery: 

Grandpa elevating my leg and attaching the ice machine.

They told me to keep my knee elevated.

So I put it on a pedestal and gave it a standing ovation!🤣

The doctor said my knee surgery would be a piece of cake...

but I am still knee-deep in icing!🤣

Brazilian Brigadeiros: Made and presented

 by Jacob and Lily for YM/YW culture night:

"Brigadeiros are served at birthday parties, weddings, and holidays in Brazil.  

They are named after Brigadier Educardo Gomes, an Air Force officer who ran for president of Brazil in 1945. 

 He held the military rank of brigadeiro or brigadier. 

When he ran for president, his supporters organized rallies and fundraisers,

 and one person came up with the recipe for brigadeiros. 

 Supporters sold them at campaign events, calling them doce do brigadeiro ( the brigadier's candy).
