October Misery!

I decided some people might think I lead a fairy tale life since I tend to post about the good things going on in my life. But rest assured that no one is exempt from trials! In random order here are some of the miserable things that happened in October!

BYU lost their big, big football game to TCU!

This came on in my car almost two weeks ago, and I have been very worried about it. Been trying to find a time to get my car in. It turned out to be very minor.

I was sick for a good week near the beginning of the month!

Chipped a tooth and had to make a trip to the dentist!

Been stressing all month about a stake Relief Society leadership meeting which was held on the 27th! Been stressing about lots of other things as well!

October Fun!

In random order, here are some of the fun things I've been doing in October.

Decorated a Halloween Tree with spiders and pumpkins I crocheted!

Dan and I watched this 6 hour mini series!

Originally watched it when it was on TV in 1981. Then after visiting Masada in 2006, we wanted to watch it again. It was a "very long wait'' on our Blockbuster wish list, but we finally got it. We loved every minute! An amazing story of the 960 Jews against 5,000 Roman troops.

Wax lips!

Helped Hannah and Joshua practice Trick or Treating at Grandpa's study!

Trying to make Mommy into a Mummy at the Halloween party!

Cinderella posing!

Made Halloween cut-out cookies!

Pumpkin Patch!

Apple Hill!

(Stocked up on donuts and juice! Oh, and apples too!)

Made applesauce using apples from our own tree!

Let the grandkids play in my costume boxes!

I'm A Snob!

Everyone is a snob when it comes to something, right?
I just realized I am a snob when it comes to apple juice and donuts!

What is this stuff? I can hardly gag it down.

Now here is APPLE JUICE!

It's the only apple juice I want to drink. It has to be unfiltered and unpasteurized; just a bunch of apples from which the juice has been pressed. Wow, is it tasty and delicious!!
And then there was the big fuss about:

I couldn't wait to try one--everyone said they were so great. Yuck! Just a bunch of fluff and air with no substance whatsoever.

Now here is a donut to die for--glazed apple donuts from High Hill Ranch. It's the only donut I will eat.

But my favorites are also expensive and elusive. I guess that's part of what makes them so special. Thank goodness for freezers. We're serving real apple juice and real donuts Christmas morning if you want to stop by!

Pumpkin Philosphy!

A woman was asked by a coworker, "What is it like to be a Christian?"
The coworker replied, "It is like being a pumpkin!
God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of you.
Then He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff.
He removes the seeds of doubt, hate and greed.
Then He carves you a new smiling face and
puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see!"

(Got this thought from a friend. No author was mentioned.)
Let your candle light shine!

Halloween 1985!

I read online that some of the most popular costumes for kids for 2009 will be Harry Potter characters, Hannah Montana, Disney Princesses and X-Men Woverine. Here was our family at Hallween 1985: I wonder if kids today know about some of these? I always let the kids pick and they always came up with clever things.
