We had a variety of interesting and fun activites over this past long weekend. Friday night we had a dinner for the Lake Natoma Ward bishopric at our home. Dan barbecued some yummy chicken for us! We had a birthday party theme. (I never get pictures of the people, but I always get a shot when I take a quick breath before everyone arrives!)
Saturday morning was the dedication of the Rhoads Diggings Monument on the property of one of our church buildings. (A few months ago I blogged about the dedication of a marker placed in another location through the City of Folsom).
Thomas Rhoads found a lot of gold in this area where the building is located and he chose to take the gold back to Utah rather than keep it for himself. It will be a good reminder whenever we are at that building of what is most important!
Dan was a speaker at the event and gave the Dedicatory Prayer.
On Sunday Dan was gone from before 7 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. with a 1/2 hour break from 6 to 6:30 for a quick dinner. He had his quarterly 5 hour Coordinating Council meeting and he spoke at Seminary graduation. He still looks pretty perky when I took this around 9 p.m.!
Monday was off to a good start with the McClellans participating in a 3-ward running event. Here are some of the super fast runners!
The Perrys visited the cemetery to honor Brian's grandfather who served our country! (More info and photos on MaryAnn's blog--although her blog is private due to Brian being a public school teacher, she would be happy to invite you. Later they came to our house for games and dinner, but I forgot to take pictures. I did get some of the Melanchuks playing Boochie...
...and doing some tricks!
So that was a great weekend!
