Sweet!

Now on "eggs"hibit: Another item crossed off my bucket list.

I was finally able to grow some Sweet Peas!  
Not an easy task in our weather.

The fragrance is out of this world!

Helping Hands!

 It was an "eggs"traodinary day of service here in California!

The Melanchuk family is working at a park in El Dorado Hills...

 And who should show up but the stake president who had been visiting at different venues with park officials, school officials and city officials.  This family looks pretty official!

 Meanwhile, a more personal service was being rendered to an individual family...

Helping Hands are needed everywhere!

Tagging Along!

We had an  "eggs"ceedingly enjoyable couple of days in Sonoma at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn where Dan had some meetings.

The property is extensive and beautiful!

We had a really nice suite on the end of the second floor with lots of windows:

And whenever we travel, I like to learn about the history of the area, so we visited  Mission San Francisco Solano de Sonoma, the last of the 21 missions, and the Bear Flag Monument:

"On June 14, 1846, a party of settlers occupied Sonoma Plaza, proclaimed a Republic of California, and raised the Bear Flag -- the inspiration for the state flag of California." 

This was probably the last out of town trip Dan will make for the League before he retires.

Over the years I have been able to accompany him from time to time and we have many fond memories of those trips.

Almost 90!

The girls had a fun event last night to celebrate Great Grandpa's birthday!

It was a triathlon featuring three areas in which Grandpa "eggs"cels!

He is a great walker and walks an hour every morning.  So everyone had to go three times around our track:

He also lifts weights and does arm "eggs"ercises.

His mind is still sharp.  He had to solve a puzzle while the kids had to write and draw with chalk...

He's almost done!

So are the kids!

He's definitely  "90 Years Young!"

The Old and the New!

 "Eggs"panding our horizons in downtown San Antonio!

Originally established as a mission in 1724, the Alamo was later defended by Texans in 1836 during a 13-day siege in which all 200 defenders were killed by General Santa Anna's army. The Alamo defenders have come to symbolize courage and sacrifice for the cause of liberty and the rallying cry "Remember the Alamo!" 

Due to flooding threats of the San Antonio River, the River Walk which was started in the 1930's, has been a help in more ways than one.  Now there are hotels and restaurants all along the way.  We took a 35 minute boat ride and loved all of the views!

Statue of Saint Anthony or San Antonio, the patron saint of Padua, Portugal.  The  Yanaguana River discovered by the Spanish on June 13th, the feast day of Saint Anthony, was renamed in his honor and eventually a mission of the same name was established there.  The small community grew and is now the 7th largest city in the United States! 

Lots of old and here's some new: Our cute little 2-year old Aubrey who knows all her letters and loves to sing...

...and almost 8-month old, Bethany, who is learning to crawl and loves doing contortions with her body!

Poteet Strawberry Festival!

"Eggs"ploring at the...


"The annual Strawberry Festival draws over 100,000 visitors to the tiny town of Poteet. This event, which has been held for nearly 60 years, attracts nationally-known country music stars and Tejano entertainers in addition to the carnival, art show, rodeo, dances, parade and “Taste of Texas” food show."

We watched these two acts at the Fearless Flores Family Thrill Show...





and then the Grand Finale: Two motorcycles in the Globe of Death!


The show was amazing and corny!


Who knew they sold cowboy hats in Spring colors!





Bethany was so good in her stroller!


Our lunch was Strawberry Shortcake followed by a BBQ sandwich followed by Strawberry ice cream! Gotta love Texas!
