My New East Coast Friend!

We had a fabulous time in Boston!  What a beautiful city with so much history, and it was easy to walk to most places. In just a few days we felt very at home.  I ventured out by myself several times.   Here are some of our highlights:

Took a tour of the USS Constitution
Dan had fun taking photos at Bunker Hill
We took a Harbor Cruise
Went past this quite a few times
I walked over here every day while Dan was in meetings: Boston Public Garden
One evening this professional guide walked us along the Freedom Trail
 Here's the trail!
Faneuil Hall with...
...Sam Adams out in front.

We also passed Fenway Park several times
I couldn't get enough of these old burying grounds; there are several in the heart of downtown; pilgrims and patriots are buried in them
We walked through the exclusive Beacon Hill neighborhood
The new State House: Completed in 1798
The Old State House is now a museum; I love how it is sitting there in the middle of the city
And last but not least on our way out of Boston:

Happy Birthday, Heidi!

Heidi is currently serving as Young Women president in her ward. Her ward and another ward are supposed to be in charge of a Youth dance tonight.  Recently she received an email from the other YW president that said something like this:  I can't help with the dance on Saturday.  I have 3 children, I am very busy and it is also my husband's birthday that day.

In true "Heidi" form, she DID NOT write back:  I have FOUR children, I am very busy and it is MY OWN birthday that day.    She will be in charge of the dance and fulfilling her responsibilities EVEN with all she has going on in her life.

Much love to the birthday girl!!!!!

He's Home!

Josh arrived home yesterday!
It was fun talking to him on Skype in his family room!!
This is one of the chair lifts. He said it takes more than 5 minutes for him to go from the family room up to the bedroom and that is with Andrea carrying the wheel chair up two sets of stairs!

Laughter is the Best Medicine!

Today Dan sent him some of what he called: Lame jokes.  Josh wondered if that was a pun on his condition?  Here was Dan's answer followed by the jokes!

I don’t think of you as lame, just temporarily mobility-challenged!

The Real Hero!

We talked to Josh about his overnight stay at home.  He said it was a lot harder than he thought it would be.   He is carrying a lot of dead weight.  He said one time he almost fell off one of the stair lifts, but Andrea helped catch him.  We asked him if he was able to get into his high bed and he said: Yes, but Andrea had to do a lot of pushing and pulling.  He went to the 3-hour block of church.  Was he able to get ready by himself?  Andrea had to help him a lot.  Do you get the drift here?   Andrea is a real hero in all of this.  She really is carrying extra weight literally and figuratively.   She is doing all of her normal duties with a family of five children, she is doing all of Josh's normal duties or seeing that they get done, and she is being a great support to Josh and helping him in many ways!
It's a great time of year to honor the wives and mothers who do so much behind the scenes and no one deserves honor this year more than our wonderful Andrea!!
These are for you!!
