O Come, Let Us Adore Him: Live Nativity!

"More than 50 volunteer cast members will come together in the true spirit of Christmas for multiple performances of the biblical account of the birth of Jesus Christ. This family-friendly, outdoor live nativity presentation, “O Come Let Us Adore Him,” will run Thursday, December 8th through Sunday, December 11th, with evening performances beginning every half hour.

The event will feature Mary and Joseph, live shepherds, ornately-dressed wisemen, an angel choir, and recorded scriptural narration from the New Testament.  Over the course of 16 performances, six different newborn babies will make their acting debut as the Baby Jesus, the central figure of the event and the season."

We loved going to this with the Perrys!

MaryAnn told me the next day that their whole family loved it and that David said he wants to go every day of his life!

They let children sit up in the front so I handed Hannah my phone and asked her to take some photos.  She did a great job!

The stake presidency takes turns speaking at the end of each performance. 

 Dan says something like this:

Thank you for joining us for tonight’s presentation.  This evening we have remembered the reason we celebrate Christmas.  Sometimes we’ll hear this exclamation as a young child realizes the baby Jesus is portrayed by a live baby:  “Mommy, Jesus is real!”

Yes, Jesus is real, in every sense of the word.  And the story of his humble birth is true.  He is the Son of God, our Savior and Redeemer.  He lives today as a resurrected, exalted and eternal being.  This Christmas season, we thank God for the matchless gift of His divine Son.

Thank you again for coming.  Those with strollers or special needs may exit up the ramp to your right.  All others, please exit up the stairs to your left.  At the top of the stairs you will see the Sacramento Temple.  This is a sacred place and the grounds are open to the public.  Please feel free to walk the grounds.  Some young people with badges—missionaries--will be available to answer any questions you may have, such as “What do you do inside the temple?”  or “Whose statue is on top, and what is he doing there?”
