This and That in November, Part 2!

 

November was a fun family month!

Christmas starts early in the Dominican Republic!

Bethany helped her Dad put up Christmas lights.

Amelia was selected as Math Tutor of the Week.

She loves math and has these T-shirts:

Math makes "The Princess Bride" more fun!

Home for Thanksgiving!

David's marching band and wind ensemble

 took first place at a recent competition!

The Perrys came one day after the temple for lunch and games!

Camille and Heidi at the Oklahoma City temple!

Amanda celebrated her birthday...

...and Hannah celebrated her birthday!

Sushi party at the Melanchuks with their Florida friends.

Thanksgiving was the big event of the month!

I have been wanting a Thanksgiving puzzle.  

After not finding anything I liked,

 I had this puzzle made from a photograph of a calendar page. 

 It was so much fun!

The Perrys went on a family walk while the turkey cooked.

John and Sara hosted Thanksgiving dinner for a lot of our family!

Fun times together!

Some stayed later to watch the "Muppet Family Christmas" movie.

Grandpa and I spent a couple of days in the Monterey area.

Thanksgiving morning we drove the 17 Mile Drive with an audio commentary.

This is the famous "Lone Cypress."  We learned from the commentary that it is at least 250 years old and is the most photographed tree in the United States!

Then we found this place for lunch where we had a very good meal.

Later in the day we came back to watch the sunset.

On Friday we drove down the coast on Highway 1.

We listened to another audio commentary on this drive.

At the end of the day we drove back to Monterey to watch the waves crashing on the rocks...

...and to enjoy the beautiful and unique Cypress trees!

Finally we drove down Cannery Row which was all decked out for Christmas.  

There were so many people and Christmas music was blaring,

 it was like a party atmosphere!

Those are bubbles--almost looks like snow!

Amanda visited downtown Salt Lake City recently,

 and took these photos of the Nativities on display.

This and That in November, Part 1!

Shafer Fall fun!

Halloween where Lilian was a dalmation and Caleb was a firefighter.

Carving pumpkins with Aunt Sarah.

The family had fun spending time at a local pumpkin patch.

David and Jacob did baptisms for a Turkish young man

 from the Antalya Branch where Reid and Kathy serve. 

 It was a great experience!

Fans at the BYU basketball game!

Heidi saw the Northern Lights from her backyard!

It's nice to see the scenery but I especially love seeing the people!

Veteran's Day and the Perrys are off of school and work.

That makes it a good day to go to the temple...

...and then to our house for pizza afterwards!

Everyone had fun doing a Thanksgiving craft!

Nathaniel loves to study his scriptures in the morning before school in his chair.

A game of Mexican Train was fun!

Darryl agreed to watch a Hallmark movie 

but only if he could work on his chainsaw.

Made him feel more manly!

Camille was an Oompa Loompa in the school's production

 of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!

Camille crocheted these flowers

 and designed this arrangement

 for a gift exchange with her theater group.

Sarah had a unique temple experience

 sponsored by her Relief Society.

They met at 5:20 a.m. on Saturday and did baptisms

 at the Manti Temple and the Payson Temple.

They also walked the grounds of the Provo City Center Temple 

and the almost-finished Ephraim Temple.

John, Aubrey and Bethany went to Salt Lake City

 for another concert coordinated with a movie!

And finally the first half of this month finished off with

 a family dinner hosted by John and Sara with a "Pie" theme.  

Dessert was easy but here are the main dishes: 

Chicken Pot Pie, Shepherd's Pie, Quiche, and Paella

Good times with family which also included Howard and Lissa Bangerter!
