The last half of May was a busy one in our family--except for me who spent most of the time in bed after surgery. Funny thing: The surgery has caused my hair to turn gray!
I was sure glad to have this ice machine to use on the incision as it was healing.
We had some Perry kids over after the temple baptistry
and they enjoyed checking out the ice machine!
It was nice to have them another time as well.

Amelia celebrated her 17th birthday!
For extra credit in her photography class,
Amelia submitted these 3 photos to a statewide contest
and got 3rd place!
Kathryn had her wisdom teeth removed.
Some dino pajamas helped while she was recovering!
And she had some time to work on this quilt.
Aubrey had her band concert.
Jacob had his band concert.

and she did great in her band concert.

Sarah was off to the state swim meet in Lenexa, Kansas.
The elementary school made signs for them
as they ran through the school.
Camille was there to support her sister along with the parents.
She qualified for the finals in the 400 free relay.
And in other news, she got a job as a lifeguard this summer.
Sarah and Camille painted these Books of Mormon
at a YW activity. They used paint markers.
Katie graduated from Seminary!
And then she graduated from Clearfield High School!
She was one of 18 who graduated Summa Cum Laude.
We got to watch the graduation on a livestream here at home.
Michael and Nathaniel got to go on the Fathers and Sons campout:
And the Melanchuks got a new boat.
Looks like more fun than ever!
Grandpa has been a super helper. Along with taking care of all the household chores including meals, shopping, laundry and cleaning, he always has time
to play UNO Flip with me!
And he even had time to grow a large amount of peas which is one of my favorites!

Lily broke a bone in her wrist playing soccer.
Someone commented that it was good that she did it after school was out
since it was her right hand.
Not so--Lily is in year round school
but her teacher has been very understanding.
Sarah, Camille and Penny went to their ward's Girls Camp.
They got to do some kayaking
and some hiking.
They actually stayed in this lovely home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma
They had a great time!
Sam attended a Young Adult FSY in Kansas City.
Kathryn got her mission call.
She was so excited while she waited for everyone to be online!
In fact everyone was excited!
She asked her Dad to read the entire call

John, Sara, Aubrey and Bethany left in late June for a trip to Alaska!
Here they are on the plane ready to head to Anchorage.
They made it!
While in Seward they took a cruise to Kenai Fjords National Park
Bethany wrote: " On our cruise today we saw Dall's porpoises
and they rode in the wake of our boat.
I saw my first humpback whale!"

I asked John how did you connect? "I knew he was from Seward, but I didn't know if he still lived here. When we got here I asked around if anyone knew any Schaefermeyers and all the locals did. (Seward population: 2,962) They said he was the deputy chief of police for the city. I stopped at the station while we were downtown and he wasn't there. But I left my name and number. He reached out the next morning. We all met for ice cream and a had a good time that evening."
Another day they went on a kayak tour of Ressurection Bay
From Bethany: "We just got back from our kayaking trip and it was so much fun.
We saw sea lions and otters and seals.
The otters got pretty close to us and they were so cute.
A sea lion jumped out of the water right in front of our kayak. It was so cool."
