Our wonderful and creative daughter-in-law, Sara, has a birthday on Sunday!  Here are her two darling daughters!
For Christmas she gave us a calendar she made using Aubrey's and Bethany's hand prints.
We love it!

Our "Lei" Clergy!

Dan is coming up on his 6 1/2 year anniversary of serving as
Stake President!
We have a lot of youth in our stake.  At a recent Stake Youth Conference there were over 200 youth 14 and up!
One of his many responsibilities is setting apart and releasing full time missionaries.  At one time we had 70 serving from our stake!  Currently there are about 50.
Recently he released a missionary who served in South Africa. The young man is part Tongan.  One of their traditions is to make leis (if you look closely, this one has candy all through it) to give to people who have influenced their son including their stake president and bishop.  So when the young man arrived at our home to be released, he put this lei on Dan and gave him a big Tongan hug!

Trip to the Past!

We recently spent a few hours in Alameda so Dan could see how things have changed and take some pictures. We drove past the house on Pearl Street...
where he grew up with his siblings!
Alameda High School where Dan was Student Body president his Senior year:

And he was interested to see that the bike shop where he bought his first Schwinn was still in business!

Spring Break! Part 5

We had a nice visit with Howard and Lissa before they leave to serve as Mission President in the Brazil Piracicaba mission!
We had fun taking Emma, Matthew, Katie and Sophie to Get Air, a trampoline place!
Matthew playing dodgeball:
Katie, Sophie and Emma ready to jump into the foam pit!
They said climbing out was the hardest part!
More action!
Sophie had fun even with her cast on!
Matthew did a flip!
We also had pizza, ice cream cones at Farr's, and milkshakes at Pace's.
A visit to the new Ogden Temple grounds!
We always like to play lots of games.  This was a new one called Schmovie!  These kids are are so smart and creative--we laughed a lot!
Sessions of General Conference and ice cream on Sunday night.
Thanks to Courtney for the Bingo game.
Legos are big at this house!
A fitting end to 4 weeks of Spring Break: Nathaniel is ready for prayer during Conference.  We are thankful for such a great family!

Spring Break Part 4: New York City!

Julia sings in the Madrigals at her high school.
Recently they took a trip to New York City!
It was a whirlwind of activity:
First a red eye flight to the Big Apple!
Then a subway ride (one of many) into the City:
View from Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Center)!
(They also went to the Empire State Building you can see in the distance)
Looking down on the City!
Times Square at night!
Central Park!
The 9/11 Memorial!
Metropolitan Museum of Art!
(Monet and Van Gogh were highlights)
Natural History Museum of "Night at the Museum" fame!
Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty!
If you ask Julia what was her favorite thing on the trip, she will answer: The Broadway show "Finding Neverland!"
And of course the reason for the trip: Singing in St. Patrick's Cathedral!
Great memories!
